Bladgoud
De onschatbare waarde van bomen (Dutch only)
I originally wrote Bladgoud in 2020 (5th edition updated in 2023) together with climatologist Reinier van den Berg and director Trees for All Simone Groenendijk. Our publisher Jeanet Hamsma (ZILT) challenged us to write a versatile, readable and palatable book about trees and forests with an eye for current trends in the tree world.

Bladgoud is about the history of trees, about the value of trees for climate and biodiversity, about their use, about the importance for our (mental) health and about their own value. Of course, this book is also about the future. How can we protect (old growth) forests and plant and use trees responsibly, so that trees and people can live together in harmony? Various points of view are discussed with regard to protection and responsible use. A versatile and informative book for everyone with a heart for climate and trees and an eye for current trends in the world.
Forests and Vitality
Evidence connecting Forests and Human Health
In March 2022, WWF published this report examining how forests have health effects on humans. Both directly through certain substances that trees excrete and indirectly through, for example, the pollinators that fertilize our crops. Research has also been collected on the health effects of Forest Therapy and how pandemics such as Covid19 arise and can be prevented through better protection of nature.

Two years of research were conducted and many scientific studies were consulted. In this report, WWF presents a framework for integrating nature conservation and public health. The English version can be downloaded using the link below.
